What a week at Disney World!
You can probably tell from the look on Carter's face that we had seen it all and done it all at DisneyWorld. The boys did great traveling out to Florida on Christmas day - the lay over in Kansas City turned out to be a blessing in disguise giving the boys a chance to stretch and run around.
We had a busy week, but made sure we took a 3 hour break in the afternoon to take naps.
Monday - R&R. Letting the boys get caught up on naps. Grocery shopping.
Tuesday - Magic Kingdom. The humidity lifted for a couple of days while we were there, making the mornings and evenings brisk (sweaters and jackets needed). First things first - Small World and the Carousel. We saw both the noon Christmas parade and the evening light parade; both of which were big hits with the kids. We figured out we could cut through all the lines by using "baby swap" passes - so mommy and daddy got to ride Thunder mountain, and splash mountain (during the night time fireworks.)
Wednesday - Epcot. The Shuttle Launch ride was incredible - somewhere around three Gs on take off and whipping around the moon. This day wasn't as much fun for the boys - although Davis and Carter got to "find Nemo" and go to "turtle talk" with Crush the turtle. This park was probably daddy's favorite - the back of the park let's you walk between countries of the world (amazing how you can feel like you're in another part of the world by walking 200 yards). Daddy made a beeline for Germany and got a brat and kraut.
Thursday - Animal Kingdom. By far the best Zoo I have ever seen. We took the boys on a Jeep safari where they got to see Lions, Giraffes, Wildebeasts, Boars, Cheetas, Elephants, etc. And the cool thing was there were no fences ("natural" barriers separated us from the animals). We also went on jungle walks where we saw incredible Tigers, Bats, Hippos, and all kinds of strange animals. (see Carter's jaw drop open below when he first laid eyes on the Gorillas).
Friday - MGM studios. Really fun day watching the stunt shows. Davis really like the Car chase stunt show....he didn't like all of the explosions in the Indiana Jones show, though. We got to ride the Aerosmith Roller coaster, and Davis got to go to Pizza Planet (Toy Story).
Saturday - Magic Kindgom in the morning, Non-stop flight home in the afternoon. We were all exhaused by Saturday. We mainly went back in the morning to let Carter ride the Choo Choo one last time and a final stop to Small World. The boys got pictures with Mickey and Dad bought them Pirate Guns.
Fun, fast week - and most importantly we all survived.
